We arrived with 2 suitcases each, but fifteen years and two kids later, the US is our home. I’ve always been adamant that everyone deserves a home - not just a house. A home tells the story of the people living there, has character, and personality. With my African roots embedded in US soil I created a home for my family, and bring that same philosophy to my clients. After completing my studies, I started my career with an interior design company in South Africa. A few years later I started my own successful design business and once we were settled in the USA I worked for a custom window treatment and furniture company. When I became a mom I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my kids. For many years I kept myself busy with my own decorating and renovation projects, and the projects of friends and neighbors. A few years ago I decided to re-enter the workforce. I started my own business so that I can pursue my passion, while still being able to give my family the love and attention that they deserve. I believe that it is imperative, when designing a space, to know as much as possible about who the space is being designed for, and what the space will be used for. With this in mind, I ask a lot of questions, actively listen to the client, and study the current space to fill out the vision. We want to hear about your project, what your needs are and how we can assist you. After we’ve identified the design needs, we schedule the first appointment. Your appointment can be a 30-minute consultation for bigger projects, or a 2-hour quick design session. For larger projects we will do a walkthrough to determine the scope and size of the project; and familiarize ourselves with the specifics and vision that you’re seeking. After the consultation we will prepare a project estimate and schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss the proposal. Once the proposal has been accepted, we will schedule your project kick-off. This will entail taking measurements and discussing the refinement of your project. During this time we will ask many questions. We want to make sure we cover all the details to ensure a beautiful, functional design, and most importantly - one that you are in love with. From here on out you can relax - we manage the project and keep it on track in terms of work quality, timeline and budget.
